The Laboratory of Infectious Diseases of Animals, University of Teramo conducted the first study related to the systems developed by PlusLife to test the sensitivity and specificity of the FCM Card kit on PlusLife MiniDocK VET, a molecular system for FHV-1, C. felis, and M. felis. During the period between October 2022 and October 2023, the laboratory collected 43 samples from cats with symptoms of URI.
The Laboratory performed a pathogen-specific PCR test and compared the results with those obtained by the Pluslife MiniDock VET test, which uses RHAM molecular technology. The Pluslife MiniDocK VET device showed 95.8% sensitivity for FHV-1 and 100% sensitivity for C. felis and M. felis, with 100% specificity for all three pathogens.
The Pluslife system has proven effective and fast for the diagnosis of URI in cats, achieving an overall diagnostic accuracy of 97.7 percent.
